SKINSEAST: WENNDANN FILM IS WORKING ON A GERMAN ADAPTATION OF SKINS.

SkinsEAST: WennDann Film is working on a German adaptation of Skins.

The Munich-based production company WennDann Film, which is backed by a young team led by producers Simon Bogocz, Ben Ulrich and Felix Mann, is working on a German adaptation of the British coming-of-series "Skins". Between 2007 and 2013, the original series ran for seven seasons with more than 60 episodes, which were shown in Germany under the title "Skins - Hautnah" on FOX, among others.

WennDann Film has acquired the rights to the adaptation from All3Media International and intends to develop the German version "in close coordination" with the UK-based global distributor, as the company explained to DWDL.de. Producer Simon Bogocz is working with authors Sonni Winkler and Jule Kleinschmidt, who were behind the ZDF comedy series "Knigge & Co." some time ago. All three are jointly responsible for the creative direction of the new project.

According to current plans, the adaptation will be entitled "SkinsEAST" and "conceived as an independent interpretation of the present", as they say - "consistently local, told from an East German perspective and international in its orientation from the outset". It is not yet known whether a broadcaster or streamer will take the bait - however, the launch will be facilitated by a development grant of 40,000 euros from Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.

In addition to commercials, WennDann Film has also produced the cinema comedy "Zweigstelle" starring Sarah Mahita, Rainer Bock and Nhung Hong in recent years and will be represented at the Berlinale this year with the world premiere of "I Understand Your Displeasure" in the Panorama section. "SkinsEAST" is now the series project to which the production company is devoting itself.
